Marc Cucurella has confirmed his new Chelsea contract is "done" following links with a Saudi Pro League transfer.

The Spaniard has been in talks over a new Chelsea deal for weeks now, in addition to being linked with Saudi clubs. But after the Blues' 5-1 thrashing of West Ham on Friday night, the left-back confirmed a contract extension is in place.

The former Brighton defender said, via : "Yes, it's [the contract renewal] done. We already did it. I'm very happy, the club gave me the confidence and I'm very happy to be here. Hopefully I will have a great year."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
After a difficult start to life in west London, Cucurella has become an important member of Chelsea's squad in the past 18 months or so. The Spain international has made the left-back position his own, particularly under head coach Maresca, and his experience and know-how have been key in their recent success. So this contract extension is a big boost for the Blues.
