Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus believes that the Bavarians will be in for a busy summer transfer window at the end of the season and claimed that more than one of Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry – all three wingers by trade – could be playing their final season at the Allianz Arena. Bayern appointed Vincent Kompany ahead of the ongoing season and are going through somewhat of a transitionary phase, which means there is potential for quite a few new signings and sales from the club next summer.

Bayern Munich are pretty stacked in the wide positions in attack. The club's wing positions have seen a mix of experienced players and emerging talents in recent seasons. Veterans Coman, Sane, and Gnabry remain in the ranks and provide experience, while summer arrival Michael Olise is making an impact on the right wing, showcasing his flair, skill, and incredible output. Behind them, Mathys Tel and Arijon Ibrahimovic offer valuable depth. If that wasn't enough, Jamal Musiala and Thomas Müller, though traditionally more comfortable in central positions, have also proven effective on the flanks.
However, it seems like an end of the cycle for the likes of Coman, Sane, or Gnabry. Sane, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is increasingly likely to head for the exit door as a free agent. On the other hand, Gnabry is tied to the club until 2026 and Coman until 2027, although their futures at the club remain as uncertain as ever.
WHAT LOTHAR MATTHAUS SAID
Speaking on Sky90 (h/t Spox), Matthaus made a firm assertion that there will be some departures from the attacking positions next summer. “There will definitely be some changes in the wing positions. There are three shaky candidates: Coman, Gnabry and Sane," Matthaus claimed.
"They will not all three be staying at Bayern next year, even if I'm certainly not going to mention any names now. All three will definitely not stay. At least one will leave, and possibly even two, as new names are also being discussed for these positions in Munich.”

While it remains to be seen what happens next summer, Kompany and Co. are currently leading the Bundesliga as they aim to regain the Meisterschale from Bayer Leverkusen. With 33 points from 14 games, Bayern will be keen to move on from their 2-1 loss to Mainz last weekend when they host rivals RB Leipzig on Friday, December 20.
