How to Get Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Tsushima featured a very useful feature known as Focused Hearing, in which Jin could attune his senses so that he could see people through walls. However, Atsu doesn’t have these attuned senses, but worry not. Focused Hearing is actually in Ghost of Yotei, but the unlock process is a bit deeper than it was in the previous game. Below, you can find out exactly how to unlock Focused Hearing and how you can use it to quell the blight of Saito’s Outlaws in Ezo.

How to Get Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei

Players can unlock Focused Hearing by progressing through The Kitsune Main Tale, located in the Teshio Ridge. Players can start the Kitsune Tale by heading north from the Grasslands, and simply by progressing through this quest, they will reach the Old Graveyard with Oyuki for “The Tale of the Kitsune” sub-chapter. During this mission, players will unlock Focused Hearing, which has been renamed to Listen. Players will not be able to use the Listen function before this mission, so when given the choice at the start of the game (after the Old Inn) to go to the Oni or the Kitsune, it might be a good idea to start with the Kitsune just for this ability. However, the Kitsune quest is rather difficult, so we don’t advise going here immediately.

How to Use Focused Hearing in Ghost of Yotei

Focused Hearing has been renamed to Listen in Ghost of Yotei. In order to use Listen, players must hold R3 while crouched, which will obscure their vision and provide them with white highlights for where enemies are located. This ability isn’t as attuned or powerful as it was for Jin in Ghost of Tsushima, but it’s still useful when infiltrating camps in stealth, as Atsu will be able to see a rough outline of enemies that could be hiding in wait for an ambush.

After unlocking the Listen ability in Ghost of Yotei, you can upgrade it with skill points in the Survival tree within the Revenge tab, obtained from the Altars of Reflection.
