Head coach Ruben Amorim wants to keep experienced heads at the club and is set to strike a new deal with goalkeeper Tom Heaton to continue in the goalkeeping department, report . Heaton is currently 39 and would turn 40 during his additional year.

Heaton has not played a single Premier League minute for United since rejoining the club in 2021 but appears to be a valued member of the squad, providing support for the other goalkeepers. There have also been discussions about a coaching role down the line but this is purely a playing contract.

United have released three out-of-contract first-team players, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen. They have also added to their squad this summer, signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
